Is there an Unforgiveable Sin?

Some time ago I was talking to a friend who described some sins they had fallen into and they were really distressed wondering if they had committed an unforgivable sin. The reason for their question was that they had read the words of Jesus in

Mark 3:28-29 – “Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

Since Jesus refers to a sin that cannot be forgiven, called blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, it made my friend wonder if it was something they had done, and of course this caused them great distress. …
